Gastronomic Hedonism - Loving Food In Excess?

If you believe the old greek philosopher Epicurus was right, you would likely follow his appetite: “The root of every good is the pleasure of the stomach”.

Vomiting to accomodate his hedonism for food

It’s said he even had to vomit twice a day to fit the huge amount of gastronomic food he had. If this tale is true, he might as well been the first bulemic character in history.

In fact, Epicurus was not greedy, he was just trying to maximize pleasure, like most hedonists. He even said that plain and simple food gives the same gastronomic pleasure as a luxury table of food, when you take away the pain coming from desire.

The question about quality or quantity in hedonism

While some rather have small portions of the highest quality, such as beluga caviar with biscuts, many hedonism supporters rather have quantity, a lot of food.
